Contrary to what one might think, the history of the 33ème W-SS Charlemagne is not set in stone following the writings of Saint-Loup and Mabire.

The epic adventure of the men who were its soldiers forms the substrate of revelations; many points remain unexplained, the most emblematic being the execution of 12 French SS men at Bad Reichenhall on 8 May 1945 by the 2nd D.B.

We are invited here to follow the journey — full of political conviction, commitment and suffering — of a young Frenchman from April 1944 until 1951, his final posting in Indochina with the Bataillon d'Infanterie Légère d'Outre-Mer.

Eric Le Clanche, through research, numerous testimonies and intensive work on the organisational charts of the Division Charlemagne — revealing notably precise biographies — invites us to join these French anti-Bolshevik fighters through his narrative. The author, steeped in history, has set down these lines with passion — an adjective that will also define his future publications.
