Francs-Tireurs 1870-1871

A recurring theme whenever one examines the War of 1870, the francs-tireurs remain among the most representative figures of the conflict. For some, they embody the missed opportunity of an unconventional war of skirmishes, in which intelligently led units might have excelled. For others, they personify the illusions of a very French martial romanticism, ultimately only serving to prolong an already lost conflict.

It is these units that Louis Delpérier brings to life through a series of original illustrations by Henri Boisselier.
