As the year suggests, the vest has its historical roots in the working world of the 19th century.

At the time, vests were worn to protect shirts from dirt and damage. This is why vests were deliberately cut close to the body, to avoid snagging on edges or other objects as much as possible. The fabric is pre-washed, so the vest will not shrink any further.
