The Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan Military Academy – The Great School of Command

The Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan Military Academy today brings together three schools: the École spéciale militaire, the École militaire interarmes and the École militaire des aspirants de Coëtquidan, created in 2020. Whether recruited by competitive examination, promoted from the ranks or holders of higher education qualifications, the students will learn at Guer, in Brittany, to become leaders.

Founded by Napoleon in 1802, this prestigious institution — then consisting solely of the École spéciale militaire — has trained all officers of the French Army for more than two centuries. Its history is thus intimately linked to that of France: from the victory of Austerlitz to Operation Barkhane, these officers have distinguished themselves on every battlefield.
