MARIUS - COMMANDO COURSE

One of four siblings, young Alain is the only one placed in state care. Deprived of affection and family bearings, Alain begins his adult life by enrolling in a law faculty, but quickly abandons university to spend more and more time with his gang of friends — boys who share his fascination with Michael Corleone, the "hero" of The Godfather. Together, they decide to carve out a place for themselves in Marseille's petty criminal underworld, racking up offence after offence. A chance encounter — as brutal as it is unexpected — makes the young man realise that this life is pulling him towards an uncertain future. He breaks with his milieu to join the naval infantry school in Lorient, before volunteering for the commando selection course. There, the ordeals he endures become so many steps allowing him to atone for past mistakes and become a different man: Marius, a legendary soldier of the French Army. After an operational career on which he draws a discreet veil — whether in Lebanon, Djibouti, France or Côte d'Ivoire — Marius becomes a commando instructor. The documentary A l'école des bérets verts then brings him out of the shadows. In 2011, he plays virtually himself in the film Forces spéciales, directed by Stéphane Rybojad. More than an autobiography, Parcours commando is the extraordinary story of a man who found the strength to fight his inner demons, "seek the faith" and live a destiny far beyond the ordinary.
