WEKUSTA 2 IN COMBAT 1940-1944: Brest, Nantes, Mont-de-Marsan, Bordeaux
The Wekusta 2 was a Luftwaffe meteorological reconnaissance unit whose history has been very little explored. It deserves closer attention. Few Luftwaffe units were permanently based in France throughout the Occupation — among them Wekusta 2, whose aircraft took off daily from Brest-Lanvéoc, Nantes-Château Bougon, Mont-de-Marsan or Bordeaux-Mérignac.

Pierre Babin undertook the task of reconstructing the history of Wekusta 2. He explored the rare archives available, in Germany and in Commonwealth countries, met some veterans of the unit, gathered their invaluable testimonies and consulted documents preserved by aviators' families. It is this history, so little known to this day, that Pierre Babin has reconstructed in a book of just over 200 pages, illustrated with previously unpublished photographs.
