After conducting extensive research and meeting numerous witnesses and veterans in the course of co-writing the book 50 aérodromes pour une victoire, Philippe Trombetta embarked on a study of the American fighter groups that fought from the skies over Normandy. Following a first volume devoted to the 404th Fighter Group, here is the second, dedicated to the 362nd Fighter Group, based at the Advanced Landing Ground at Headcorn in Kent, then at A-12 Lignerolle, and finally at A-27 near Rennes. This unit is the most decorated on the European theatre of operations, with no fewer than six pilots in the top ten of the 9th Air Force. The many previously unpublished photographs — pilot portraits, glimpses of daily life within the Group in combat — are complemented by aircraft and ground vehicle profiles. Here, then, is a book which, like its predecessor, should delight aviation enthusiasts and students of the Second World War alike.
