The historical model for this 1923 Buccanoy Shirt has its origins in the 1920s. Men's fashion had favoured straight-collar shirts since the mid-19th century. A detachable collar, known as a "paratise" or stand collar, could be buttoned onto it.

Cleaning and starching dirty collars was made easier as a result. This type of shirt was very popular until it was gradually replaced by fold-down collar shirts in the 1940s. Just as on the original, it is possible to button a collar onto our Buccanoy shirts.
