THE BLEND OF FREEDOM - SQUADRON 303 WHISKY Blend 44°

The Squadron 303 (No. 303 Polish Fighter Squadron, also known as the Kościuszko Squadron) was the most formidable squadron in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. This Polish fighter squadron was formed on 2 August 1940 and was operational by the end of that month. It scored its first victory on 30 August by shooting down a German bomber. It distinguished itself during the Battle of Britain (autumn 1940). Despite its losses, it was the squadron that shot down the greatest number of aircraft, with 126 confirmed kills. The pilots flew Spitfires and took part in numerous raids over Europe throughout the war. In 1945, the squadron re-equipped with P-51 Mustangs. The 303 Squadron was disbanded in December 1946 at the end of the war.

This squadron was made up of Polish pilots, who introduced vodka to their English comrades-in-arms. In return, the latter introduced the Polish pilots to the finer points of Irish, Scottish and English whiskies. Many accounts relate the growing interest of the Squadron 303 pilots in the fine whiskies they discovered during their postings at Royal Air Force bases in England and Scotland.

In tribute to this history, the Whisky 303 Squadron - Blend of Freedom - was created by a team of enthusiasts. The "Blend of Freedom" is an original blend of a Scottish single malt, an English single malt, an Irish grain whisky, a French single malt and an American bourbon. Five components from five allied terroirs that fought for freedom.

This blend offers a complex and richly indulgent tasting experience. The butterscotch of the Irish grain whisky subtly combines with the pastry-like sweetness of the English malt, driven forward by the strength of the peated Scotch, then rounded out by the Kentucky bourbon and enriched with the floral notes of the French single malt. The experience concludes on a poetic note with 303 drops of the historic and vintage Scottish single malt.
