This straight-cut T-shirt is styled as worn in the 1940s. It is made from a very thick cotton at 240 g/m², making it exceptionally comfortable to wear and very soft to the touch. The T-shirt is made in Portugal and the screen printing is produced in France entirely by hand using artisanal methods. The ink used is water-based.

The aircraft carrier USS Hornet, under the command of Captain Carl J. Seiberlich, was selected as the primary recovery vessel for Apollo 11 on 5 June 1969. The Hornet was then at its home port of Long Beach, California. Arriving at Pearl Harbor on 5 July, the Hornet embarked the Sikorsky SH-3 Sea King helicopters of HSC-4, a unit specialising in the recovery of Apollo spacecraft, specialist divers from the UDT Apollo detachment, a NASA recovery team of 35 men and approximately 120 media representatives. To make room, the greater part of the Hornet's air wing was left at Long Beach. Special recovery equipment was also loaded, including a full-size mock-up of the command module used for training. The carrier would carry out the same mission for Apollo 12.
