The U.S. Navy CPO Shirt — a classic among outdoor shirts.

A sailor's life has always been tough. Their clothing, too, had to adapt to the harshest weather conditions. Over the years, specific cuts and materials established themselves in the navy. The 1943 CPO Shirt is one of those garments to emerge from the U.S. Navy. The cut and fabric, developed in the 1930s, have been only slightly modified over the years.

For this version, an authentic 1940s cut was selected. It features two large chest pockets and offers a generous freedom of movement.

It was originally made in heavy wool. For this version, Pike Brothers chose moleskin — also sometimes called English leather — which is a heavy cotton satin brushed on one side. Moleskin is a fabric found very commonly among workwear garments owing to its exceptional durability. The warp is usually made from a thick twisted yarn while the weft consists of a softer yarn. After weaving, the reverse of the fabric is brushed, giving it a soft touch reminiscent of suede.

This is a heavy shirt that can be worn as a jacket.
