1905 Hauler Pant Dundee Grey Wool Trousers - Pike Brothers
Haul, tow, pull, hoist: words that evoke the origins of the 1905 Hauler Pant.
These trousers have their roots in the working world of the 19th century. Pike Brothers recreated them based on an old photograph from the 1890s. The photo, taken in an old brewery, shows a storekeeper leaning against a beer barrel. Craftsmen, as well as brewery workers, often had to carry, tow or hoist heavy loads, and work clothing had very specific criteria to meet. On one hand, freedom of movement could not be restricted; on the other, garments had to be sturdy enough to withstand the demands of a hard daily routine.
All of this is embodied in the 1905 Hauler Pant. The cut is very wide and the waistband very high. The wearer benefits from great freedom of movement. The waistband features buttons for attaching braces.
