This work is the fictionalised historical account of those eleven hours of siege as seen through the incredulous and stunned eyes of Alonso Bernardo, the sole Spaniard belonging to the French company that resisted the siege of the Mexican troops at Camerone. It is a raw narrative, drawn from the source and rendered with the greatest literary care, yet without ever sacrificing fidelity to or respect for historical reality. It is therefore a book to be read in order to appreciate, from a completely new perspective, the events that unfolded at the hacienda of Camerone in 1863.

The author, Joachim Manes Postigo, was born in Seville, Spain, in 1959, and lives in La Palma del Condado, in the province of Huelva. A lawyer by profession, with a degree in business management, his passion for history and the investigation of uncommon events and places led him to publish several works. In French, he published in 2013 Les Héros de Camerone, now reissued under the title Camerone – Une histoire de la Légion étrangère, and in 2021 Mercenaires – Soldats sans drapeau.
