The advance of Canadian and Polish troops along the Channel coast to Abbeville in the summer of 1944.

With Libérés Normandie 1944, Thierry Chion presents a little-known aspect of the liberation fighting. He chronicles the engagement of Canadian and Polish troops during their advance towards the Somme in August and September 1944.

We follow the 4th Armoured Division, the 2nd and 3rd Canadian Infantry Divisions, and the 1st Polish Armoured Division as they successively liberate the eastern plateau of Rouen, Rouen itself, and the valleys and plateaux as far as Abbeville.

Numerous maps allow the reader to track the movements of the units. Throughout this epic advance, the FFI are also present, as are the many Allied airmen sheltered by courageous French civilians and subsequently liberated by the Allied forces.
