Founded in 1910, Excelsior was the first daily newspaper to make extensive use of photography. During the Great War, its photojournalists roamed France and the front lines, bringing back several tens of thousands of glass plates... Jean-Noel Jeanneney is a graduate of the École normale supérieure and the Institut d'études politiques, agrégé in history and holder of a doctorate in letters. A university professor, he served as president of Radio France and Radio France internationale (1982-1986), as well as the Mission du Bicentenaire de la Révolution française (1988-1989). He was Secretary of State for Foreign Trade (1991-1992) and for Communications (1992-1993) before becoming president of the Bibliothèque nationale de France from 2002 to 2007. The author of numerous political and historical works and documentary films, he produces the weekly Saturday morning programme "Concordance des temps" on France Culture. Jeanne Guérout holds a master's degree in history and another in journalism. Franco-German, she has worked for various media outlets in Berlin and Paris (Arte, Le Monde, Die Tageszeitung, AFP) and currently contributes to the programme "Concordance des temps" on France Culture.
