The Tripartite Minehunters (CMT) have been in service since 1984. The result of a successful cooperation between France, the Netherlands and Belgium, forty vessels were built, of which thirteen were commissioned by the French Navy.

Mine hunting has replaced sweeping with a meticulous exploration of the seabed combining sonar and mine-clearance divers, with the human operator remaining the ultimate means of classification. These minehunters are particularly sophisticated vessels, regularly modernised, but whose replacement is the subject of numerous studies and trials.
