Using the same layout as the original edition, this History of Knights comprises four volumes, and incorporates in the first the History of Duels written by Jacques Basnage de Beauval. This important chronology of the Knightly Orders (400–1700), enriched with numerous engravings, complements the traditional History of France. The fourth and final volume includes at the end, in addition to a summary chronological table for all four volumes, the explanation and illustration of the arms, collars and crosses of all military and chivalric orders.
