From the DEFA (Direction des études et fabrication d'armements, the state body responsible for the arsenals) project was born the AMX 30, a highly mobile tank capable of operating in an NBC environment and equipped with an excellent 105 mm gun of national design.

The first AMX 30Bs entered service in 1967. Their chassis gave rise to a complete family of vehicles, some of which are still in service today, in France and around the world. It is this history that we recount through more than two hundred and fifty photographs and technical drawings, from the origins to the latest developments, including the many variants.
