Our 1923 Buccanoy Shirt: a must for formal occasions. The historical model for our 1923 Buccanoy shirts has its origins in the 1920s of the last century. Men's fashion had favoured upright-collar shirts since the mid-19th century. An additional collar, known as a "detachable collar", could be buttoned onto it. This made it easier to clean and starch soiled collars. This type of shirt remained very popular until it was gradually replaced by turn-down collar shirts in the 1940s.
Just as on the original, it is possible to button a collar onto our Buccanoy shirts.
