Our 1923 Buccanoy Shirt: a must for formal occasions. The historical model for our 1923 Buccanoy shirts has its origins in the 1920s. Men's fashion had preferred straight-collar shirts since the mid-19th century. A separate collar, known as a "detachable collar", could be buttoned onto it. This made cleaning and starching soiled collars much easier. This type of shirt was very popular until it was gradually replaced by turndown-collar shirts in the 1940s.
Just as on the original, it is possible to button a collar onto our Buccanoy shirts.
