The N-3 shirt was part of a 4-piece uniform issued to US Navy ground personnel.

This uniform consists of an N-3 HBT jacket, N-3 HBT trousers, an N-3 shirt, and an HBT cap. Recipients of the N-3 utility uniform included shore-based crews, construction battalions, amphibious units, and combat and security units.

This shirt was worn by US Navy sailors from July 1943 to April 1945. It succeeds the blue chambray shirt. Production contract information is printed inside the collar as it was at the time.

This shirt is made from a Japanese cotton fabric weighing 6.5 oz in olive drab #7 (OD-7).
