The "Beo Gam" camouflage is inspired by duck-hunting garments of the 1940s. It appeared in the early 1960s during the Vietnam War. It was intended for special forces operating in South-East Asia. 

The camouflage is created by combining various shapes in shades of brown and green, more or less dark, on a beige background. This camouflage was used primarily in the Mekong Delta, while the Tiger Stripe pattern was more common further north in the dense forests.

It is called "Beo Gam", which means "Leopard" in Vietnamese.
