It features a "Mao" collar, as straight-collared shirts were fashionable in the early part of the last century, in the 1920s and 1930s. For evenings and formal occasions, it was possible to add a detachable starched collar. It therefore has a button at the back of the collar for this purpose. The high collar is available on the website.
With its detachable collar and its elegance, the style of this shirt is not without echoes of the Peaky Blinders look.
This style of shirt was progressively replaced by turndown-collar shirts in the 1940s.
