The design is inspired by a vintage folding chair model used by American officers of the US Army during World War II. These chairs were also used on the decks of transatlantic ocean liners, in American churches and schools. Finally, a large number, in the post-war period, were used in theatres, cinemas and communal spaces in France.

They take up little space and are easy to carry when folded. They are practical for outdoor use, or simply in a garden or on a balcony.
