The French colonial helmet is also known as the safari helmet, tropical helmet, sun helmet, pith helmet or cork helmet.

Its manufacture was passed on to the Vietnamese more than a hundred years ago by the French during their occupation. This colonial helmet model has a wider brim than the British colonial version.

  • Helmet made of cork or plant fibres, covered with fabric to protect the head from the sun (under 250 g).
  • Central ventilation and eyelets on the sides.
