THE SCORPIONS OF SPIN BOLDAK

From 2002 onwards, thanks to the deployment of French special forces in Afghanistan, the men of C.P.A. 10 (Commando Parachutiste de l'Air No. 10) gave a brilliant demonstration of their field expertise. Operating autonomously at the heart of Taliban sanctuaries, they proved capable of conducting deep-penetration raids and unleashing devastating air strikes against the enemy. Yet nothing predestined some of the men of C.P.A. 10 — notably those of action cell 12 Alpha — to establish themselves among the elite of French special forces. Men like Zouzou, Tintin, Morbac, Mario, Max, Menhir, Sly, Loop, Lolo, and Hugo, most of whom took their first steps in the air force during their military service, sometimes as a simple cook or driver. For the first time, these men reveal a chapter of their history and their missions to specialist journalist Jean-Marc TANGUY. He takes us through the evolution of an action cell, from its origins to its most recent missions, as well as the breadth of its air and ground expertise.
