It tells the story from the very creation of the Jeep — the vehicle that helped the Allies defeat the Axis powers during the Second World War — through to the Cherokee and other current SUVs, without overlooking the beloved CJ and Wrangler.

It guides us through the labyrinthine succession of acquisitions and financial difficulties, while also revealing the successes and, above all, the rugged machines that today allow the brand to post record-breaking figures.

Three hundred colour photographs and black-and-white archival images illustrate this expert historical work. Jeep, histoire d'une légende américaine is an exhaustive tribute to the manufacturer that has tackled the roughest tracks and now embodies American perseverance.

Patrick R. Foster, automotive journalist and historian, is the foremost authority on the AMC group and its affiliated brands. He has written several works on this manufacturer, as well as on many others, notably Jeep and Studebaker. He has been published in most of the major specialist magazines and has received numerous awards from the AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) and the SAH (Society of Automotive Historians). In 2011, he received the Lee Iacocca Award — one of the most coveted in automotive publishing.
